Technical Support Manager
Job Introduction
We are looking for a Technical Support Manager to join our team on a prestigious manufacturing account. This role will be well suited to an engineering supervisor looking to come off tools and looking for a route into Technical Services management or a highly experiences Technical services coordinator looking for the next step up. To be successful in this role, you would have experience in the facilities management field, have a good working knowledge of CMMS systems, substantial experience managing sub-contractors, knowledge of technical compliance, be highly organised and accurate.
We offer a salary up to £45,000 and excellent development and progression opportunities within the company. This vacancy has no fixed place of work and will involve significant national travel to ensure technical team’s presence on the 9 sites in your remit (likely 3 days a week visiting sites).
Role Responsibility
- Ensure adequate control and monitoring is applied to all maintenance activities undertaken by site teams and sub-contractors.
- Ensure consistency in process and procedures deployed in operational delivery of services across all sites.
- Functional responsibility for service activity for ensuring compliance with all relevant statutory and non-statutory legislation/guidance and site-specific health and safety and welfare policies.
- Support the Head of Technical Services and other stakeholders in the delivery of all services within the scope of the contract and provide shoulder to shoulder technical service input as required in order to enhance the credibility of Sodexo’s Technical Services offer, providing guidance and expertise.
- Ensure that all sites are always statutory and contractually compliant for services delivered within scope, and robust and rigorous means of recoding this are maintained.
- Ensure that all services within the scope are adequately resourced, and the required infrastructure is in place in order to manage the service, track cost and value, and to ensure that contract level information has the granularity required to make well informed decisions.
- Coach and mentor members of the site teams delivering Technical services.
- Interact with customers and take positive action in order to ensure that Sodexo are the supplier of choice for all services within our scope of offering, particularly in relation to IFM and project related Opportunities.
- Contribute to the overall management of the business, develop good relationships with all persons/parties associated with Sodexo’s undertakings either externally or internally.
- Ensure that all services costs are correctly applied and charged according to the terms of an applicable contract. Obtain prior approval for expenditure to be committed that falls outside the agreed delegated powers.
- Ensure that processes are in place to assure the prompt provision and efficient delivery of all services at the specified time to the standards laid down in specified contract Key Performance Indicator’s.
- Ensure compliance by completion of routine audits, including point of works inspections and safety walks
- Ensure systems are in place to assure that all equipment used by the service delivery team and the overall establishment, is safe and secure at all times. Ensuring that all reporting staff are suitably trained and fully aware of Sodexo and Client H&S Systems.
- Ensure that steps are in place to assure the maintenance and upkeep of key site documentation and to ensure the incumbent delivery team adopts a systematic approach for all activities.
- Provide development instructions and guidance for staff where appropriate in the use of own technical ability, knowledge within the limits of their competence.
- Attend finance, operational and team briefings, client, sub-contractor meetings and any meeting as required in order to complete the designated role and its associated functions.
- Attend to and take all necessary action, statutory or otherwise, in the event of incidents or accident, fire, theft, loss, damage or other irregularities and take such action as may be appropriate.
- Provide Client and Sodexo with such information and reports as may be reasonably required for the overall monitoring, planning and control of the contract or for other management purposes.

Essential
- A highly customer focused individual, motivating and driving performance in teams to deliver high standards of service and cost effectiveness.
- Capability of assisting a technical team in a regulated environment where asset performance is a business-critical requirement.
- The role holder will have a well-developed knowledge of maintenance processes with regards to hard services, and the application of best practices and the effective deployment of maintenance strategies in technically complex customer environments.
- Experience of integrated risk management and the methods employed to manage engineering risks, hazards and controls.
- Full understanding of H&S and other regulatory obligations applicable to asset management.
- The role holder will have a sound grasp of all the services delivered by FM and will understand their impact on their customers.
- Excellent communication – written & verbal.
Desirable
- To have developed from a technician/HNC background supported by substantial experience of similar roles and/or a member of professional FM and/or engineering organizations e.g. BIFM, IMechE, etc.
- The role holder will have a strong technical background, with knowledge of the engineering principles and practices utilised across the lifecycle of asset and facilities design and utility operation.
- NEBOSH Qualified
- Have held an Authorised Person (Trade Discipline Specific)
- Certification in Risk Assessment
- ISO Standards Internal Auditor
- Management of Legionella, Water Quality Management
