Technical Assistant – Biomedical Engineering Support 

  • MTS Health Limited University Hospital Southampton,

Hours: 

  • Monday to Friday, 08:00–16:30 or 08:30–17:00

Salary: 

  • £25,375

 Are you looking to begin your career in biomedical engineering? MTS is offering an exciting opportunity for a Technical Assistant to join our expert team supporting vital medical technology across multiple sites.

 


As a Technical Assistant, you’ll work alongsideexperienced Biomedical Engineers, learning how to maintain and repair a widerange of biomedical equipment used in healthcare environments. You’ll receivefull training, ongoing support, and the chance to develop valuable technicaland customer service skills in a rewarding, hands-on role.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Carry out Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) and Corrective Maintenance (CM) on medical devices (once trained).
  • Work to manufacturers’ specifications and company quality standards (QMS).
  • Complete all associated administration and database records accurately.
  • Support Biomedical Engineers in achieving Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Maintain safe working practices and comply with Health & Safety policies.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and subcontractors.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Help schedule and manage planned and remedial workloads.
  • Maintain service documentation and asset data integrity.
  • Liaise with third-party suppliers when required.
  • Keep tools, test equipment, and stock levels in good order.
  • Contribute ideas to improve productivity and service quality.

  • A positive, proactive attitude with a willingness to learn.
  • A full UK driving licence.
