Supply Chain Category Lead

Job Introduction

  • To support the Supply Chain team in the management of the category portfolios and manage the sustained delivery of optimum Supplier performance to Sodexo and the Clients agreed SLA’s.
  • To co-ordinate and own the overall Supply Chain governance model including monthly governance meetings and annual contract obligations audits for the supply chain.
  • To develop appropriate supplier and customer relationships in line with agreed strategy across categories and act as an escalation point for Supply Chain issues.
  • To support the Supply Chain team in managing contract and operational change.
  • Work with Supply Chain managers to maintain category risk and opportunity registers and updates to the supply chain management toolkit.
 

Role Responsibility

Within the supply chain management team, the Assistant Supply Chain Manager will be responsible for supporting all property and services and related changes associated with DWP’s supply chain contracts (as set out below)

  • Responsible for directing estimated £900m client spend over 4 years managed by the Supply Chain team
  • TFM – up to £300m client spend over 4 years – single supplier
  • Security – up to £300m client spend over 4 years – single supplier
  • Projects – Up to £600m over 4 years client spend – up to 30 suppliers
  • Lease & Landlord Management – Est. £20m supplier fee over 4 years, plus payment of rents and rates across estate of 900 properties – single supplier
  • 80,000 Authority employees and contractors impacted by integrator
  • 5-year contract
  • Integrator – providing management services to the Authority (largest public sector department)
  • Over 1.5m sqm NIA across the DWP estate
  • Leadership - build and maintain category expertise to enable strategic advice to the Client and Senior
  • Leadership Team to inform their Policy on the financial; risk; innovation aspects of the category across all functions.
  • Governance – to ensure governance protocols are always adhered to and the monthly supply chain governance meetings are documented.
  • Relationships - establish and develop excellent working relationship with the Client; Customers; Suppliers, internal functions and other relevant external bodies.
  • Risk Management – manage the Supply Chain risk log including monthly risk reporting.
  • Supply Chain Toolkit – own the overall Supply Chain tool-kit working with the Supply Chain team to maintain and update tools.
  • Change Management - support category and contract change processes.
  • Ownership of a specific Category
  • Ownership of administration of the governance process and reporting for the supply chain and oversight of their operational management
  • Co-ordinating the reporting of operational performance, commercial and risk management of the supply chain.
  • Identification and documentation of Continuous Improvement opportunities within the supply chain
  • Support the contract variation process including managing contract change logs
  • Ad hoc Project work as agreed by Line Management
  • Offering guidance and commercial support to ensure changes are managed in an effective manner
  • Authority supply chain contracts were written independently to one another, with differing contractual obligations and timescales and these need to be considered in management of the process as it requires the supply chain to act in unison to change the service delivery in a seamless manner.
 

The Ideal Candidate

  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent by experience
  • Supplier management experience
  • Demonstrable commercial acumen with a proven track record in supplier management
  • Knowledge and implementation of risk management strategies and processes
  • Demonstrable experience of managing change control projects end to end
  • Knowledge of supplier and customer relationship management tools and techniques
  • Strong IT skills with experience of the MS Office Suite

Desirable

  • Degree, MBA or MSC in supply chain, procurement or business
