Shipping and Logistics Operative
Job Introduction
To provide the day to day shipping and Logistics service and tasks required at GSK, which are covered by the GSK Shipper/CFSP/Logistics function, on behalf of the WREF business service GSK and to provide support for all incoming/outgoing mail and goods shipments handled by Sodexo Logistics.
Role Responsibility
- Receive process and distribute incoming/outgoing goods as required, reporting any damage and ensuring appropriate storage.
- Operate and maintain computerised databases and systems to ensure reports are accurate and complete
- Operate equipment and drive company vehicles as required.
- Ensure that all necessary tracking and recording databases and records are completed accurately to comply with regulatory and business requirements
- Inspect shipments for despatch to ensure packaging is appropriate for purpose and report non-conformities before shipment.
- Arrange shipment via an appropriate carrier, liaising with collection / delivery drivers to ensure that shipping records are complete, accurate and are maintained / retained according to GSK retention requirements.
- Liaise with IESS (Import Export Shared Services) as required to ensure that customs records (e.g. Track and Trace) are correct and assist with hosting H.M.Customs audits as and when required.
- Provide support to customers and non courier shipment systems in completing required documentation and keep customers informed of any issues affecting the safe and timely transportation of shipments.
- Process and cross charge invoices to customers for service provision, arbitrate disputes and ensure invoice accuracy
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience within a similar industry.
- Relevant knowledge and experience in a logistics/shipping environment.
- An understanding of import and export requirements.
- An understanding of health and safety legislation.
- Computer literate.
- UK driving license.
- Team worker with a flexible approach.
- Ability to be able to work unsupervised and make sensible business decisions on behalf of the client.
- Must be able to demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Competent approach to working safely in hazardous areas
