Safer Custody Analyst

Job Introduction

HMP Northumberland are recruiting for a Safer Custody Analyst to provide support to the Safer Custody Managers and also the Use of Force Co-ordinator, working closely also with the Security department Analyst team and local Drug Strategy Co-ordinator. If you have previous experience in a similar role and are able to take conflicting information and provide recommendations or reports based on the data, this could be a great opportunity for you.

Being over 4 miles in circumference, the prison is a vast space with exceptionally kept plantation and currently houses over 1300 residents with a range of sentence terms.

Role Responsibility

  • Analyse and evaluate information from a wide range of sources to support and inform decision making in the identification, reduction and prevention of safer custody issues and the management of related incidents. Where required, undertake further analysis on IRS and Mercury systems when concerns are raised in relation to safer custody topics.
  • Produce a safer custody Intelligence Report and disseminate it as required within the establishment, collating feedback, before presenting the report at the monthly Safer Custody Meeting and within security meeting forums. The report will cover all strands of safer custody to include self-harm, violence, self-isolation, CSIP, ACCT management etc to meet establishment priorities.
  • Make sure that all relevant intelligence and recording systems are updated, maintained, used appropriately
  • Ensure that the Use of Force incident database is effectively maintained, and updates are expedited on a timely basis. Provide identification of trends and patterns to support appropriate actions.
  • Undertake analysis to inform reporting to the Use of Force meeting in relation to trends identified from staff and prisoner debriefs, including application of opportunities for de-escalation not optimised or where good practice is evident.
  • Undertake data collection and analysis that supports the Use of Force Co-ordinator’s successful promotion of high levels of BWVC use.
  • Complete prior analysis of the required datasets and produce the quarterly SMARG report.

The Ideal Candidate

Essential

  • Understanding of and use of Mercury (Intelligence Assessment System)
  • Ability to assessment information from various sources, which may be conflicting, assess this information and communicate understanding.
  • Attention to detail
  • Experience within a similar role

Desirable

  • Experience of report writing using evidence to justify any findings/recommendations
  • Understands Safer Custody, Use of Force governance and segregation principles/rules
  • In depth knowledge of computer based systems

Package Description

£23,882.50 per annum

Fixed term contract until 31 March 2022

37.5 hours per week
