Package Description
Salary - £29,638.84 for 0 - 1 year service, £30,805.55 for 1 - 2 years service, £31,451.25 for 2 - 4 years service, £33,798.48 for 4 years + service.
Salary is made up of base salary of £26,732.95 and a market forces allowance of £2905.89 (242.11 per month).
After 13 months this increases to base salary of £27,453.32 and a market forces allowance of £3352.23 (£279.35 per month) + pension + benefits.

Recruitment process:

- Start Date of course: 18/09/2023 (You will be required to complete a mandatory 10 week training course. No annual leave can be taken during this period.) The training will be Monday to Friday.

What you’ll do:
· Support a team of other Prison Custody Officers and work as a collaborative unit
· Supervise residents at mealtimes and manage regular routines (locking and unlocking, recreation time)
· Oversee movement around the facilities – visiting hours, education, and work placements
· Play a key part in resident’s rehabilitation journey or offer support during their time in prison
· Treat all residents with fairness and respect
Main Responsibilities
You might be working on a main wing with a team of other PCOs responsible for prisoners. Your role will involve everything from managing the regular prison routines, (locking & unlocking, supervising meals and recreation time to escorting people to prison work and education). You’ll need to deal with the more challenging aspects of prison life such as abusive and violent behaviour. You’ll be working with all sorts of prisoners including those on long sentences, people convicted of serious crime and vulnerable individuals.
