Plant (Asset) Manager

Job Introduction

An excellent opportunity to join our highly engaged Horticutural team who truly believe in the working together ethos, this role has the potential for future growth.

As Plant Manager, you will be responsible for the management of plant assets including their selection, purchase, maintenance and disposal, asset tracking and verification.

You'll be advising and supporting the mobile fitters and operational management on plant issues including suppliers and parts pricing.

You will also be managing a home based Plant Administrator.

Role Responsibility

  • Liaison with manufacturers, dealers, suppliers regarding the specification and supply of plant and machinery, spare parts and service issues ensuring that assets comply with current legislation.

 

  • Manage the CAPEX budget and CAPEX/order processing and invoice authorisation.

 

  • Manage plant replacement programme, contract start-ups/closedowns, lease returns/purchases, surplus plant relocation/disposal.

 

  • Maintenance of the TRACE asset management system and procedures to manage and track the company’s plant assets e.g. asset identification, asset movements & disposals.

 

  • Identify and implement an annual programme of site visits to verify assets and audit plant and vehicle processes and procedures.  Carry out Quality, Health & Safety and environmental audits and report findings to the senior management team.

 

  • Provide support to mobile fitters regarding technical and warranty issues, parts sourcing, supply and pricing, winter service programme and training issues – disseminate information to mobile fitters, contract managers and regional directors.

 

  • Provide advice and support to operational management regarding the selection, utilisation, maintenance, hire and costs of plant within the Horticultural Services Division & across the wider UK business.

 

  • Review plant and vehicle utilisation to maximise efficiency and reduce plant and vehicle costs, identify & disseminate good practice.

 

  • Manage the large goods vehicle and transport of plant as operations require e.g. contract start-ups/closedowns, seasonal movement of tractors for snow & ice etc.

 

  • Coordinate commercial vehicle requirements covering temporary hires for contract starts, re-deployment of vehicles out of season, movement of surplus vehicles; vehicle replacements etc

The Ideal Candidate

  • Management experience in the grounds maintenance contracting environment with experience of plant management.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with all levels - operators to senior management, suppliers and clients.
  • Aware of current Health & Safety and general legislation relating to plant management.
  • Sound commercial awareness, administrative and IT skills
  • Capable of working on own initiative and without supervision.
  • Ability to be an effective team player within the management team.
