We are currently seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Perinatal Services, Mother and Baby Unit Manager at HMP Peterborough.

This is an exceptional opportunity for someone with a passion for supporting vulnerable individuals during a crucial stage of their lives. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing the perinatal services within our mother and baby unit, ensuring the provision of high-quality care to incarcerated pregnant women and new mothers. As the Perinatal Services, Mother and Baby Unit Manager you will play a crucial role in creating a supportive and safe environment for both mothers and their infants.

Main Responsibilities: 

  • Manage and oversee the perinatal services within the mother and baby unit Creating management reports to ensure the effective service development and governance are met. 
  • Ensure mothers and expectant mothers in custody to identify their needs, to encourage mothers to seek advice and support where appropriate. 
  • You will be contributing to the development and training of safeguarding children’s. 
  • Developing and maintain highly professional working relationships with a range of stakeholders and partners such as local authorities and other regulatory bodies. 
  • Oversee complex cases, planning intervention and support, ensuring the voice of mothers in prison are heard at all stages and concerns are escalated where appropriate. 
  • Ensure successful audit/assurance outcomes. 
  • Achieve and maintain high standards of care for prisoners and children up to 2 years.

The Ideal Candidate: 

  • You must have children safeguarding knowledge. 
  • You will need management experience to be considered for the role. 
  • The ability to communicate appropriately and in a timely way with individuals. 
  • Previews experience in a prison desirable but not essential. 
  • Experience working in a similar environment or role is desirable but not essential. 
  • You should have the ability to effectively engage with people in complex situations and have difficult conversations.
  • Experience with Leadership & People Management
  • Ability to work effectively in a challenging and dynamic environment.
  • Being organising and planning your workload accordable
