Operations Manager

Sodexo Health and Care have an exciting opportunity for an experienced operations professional to join our team at the Hereford County Hospital
As part of the Soft Services team, you will have the overall responsibility for the Portering, Transport, Linen and Laundry, Receipt & Distribution, Waste, and Switchboard and lead a team of professionals to deliver efficient and compliant services.
In this critical role, your focus will be on delivering a first-class service, maintaining service excellence. You will drive performance, compliance, and customer satisfaction, ensuring all KPIs are met and our clients’ expectations are always exceeded.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITES
- Adopt a team approach and participate fully with colleagues in the delivery and development of efficient integrated services, irrespective of discipline
- Respond to complaints and service issues in a timely, professional and pragmatic manner
- Champion the CARES programme to ensure all staff are committed to offering high levels of customer service at all times
- ensure all departmental financial targets are met in line with annual budgets and forecasts.
- Responsible for monthly financial and performance reporting for areas of responsibility.
- Provide accurate labour reports detailing reasons for any overspend .
- Lead and motivate a large diverse workforce, leading by example and be fully engaged and knowledgeable with all employee value initiatives
- Ensure the correct use of labour, materials and equipment.
- Ensure achievement of high levels of client and service user satisfaction and monitor these on regular basis. The primary focus of all activities and resource will be improvement of the patient and visitor experience.
- Responsible for the recruitment and management of direct reports. This will include responsibility for their development which will include health & safety, communication of shared goals and ensuring that effective appraisals take place
- Engage and promote a Zero Harm Mindset taking a pro-active approach to health and safety, minimising risk and empowering the team to improve the environment.
- Ensure full compliance with company policy regarding staff sickness/absence and annual leave
- Responsible or succession planning and workforce planning and ensuring that adequate management cover is provided in own absence and in the absence of other members of the management and supervisory team.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
You will have a strong operational background and already have held a similar position (preferably within a health care environment but facilities management, leisure, hospitality, retail and other similar industries are also acceptable).
This is a highly collaborative role that requires exceptional leadership skills along with a strong understanding of contract management, financial performance, and service excellence. You will have previous experience of successfully leading a team in ensuring continuous improvement to service delivery and financial performance within the agreed budget.
You will also have:
- Experience in coaching and influence teams
- Good communication skills with the mental agility to ‘think on feet’ and provide convincing practical solutions
- Good “people-management” skills
- Strong analytical skills with a strong bias towards P&L financial management
- An intelligent approach to performance monitoring including relevant experience
- Well-developed co-ordination skills
- Proficient IT skills, including Excel, Word & Microsoft office
- The availability to respond to out of normal hours emergency situations
