Job Introduction

Sodexo is currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Maths Tutor to work at HMP YOI Bronzefield.

As a Maths Tutor, your main responsibility will be to support and educate prisoners in various mathematical concepts and skills, helping them build a strong foundation in mathematics and achieve their educational goals.

Main Responsibilities

  • Teach learners to improve their basic education levels up to Level 2.
  • Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate activities and appropriate courses.
  • Challenge negative behaviour and boost self-esteem through role modelling.
  • Enhance prisoners' employability and support their rehabilitation to reduce reoffending.
  • Deliver accredited and non-accredited courses in Functional Skills English and Maths.
  •  Monitor the uptake of courses and employ strategies to maximise attendance.
  • Track learner attendance, achievement, and progression, reporting any issues to the Line Manager.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Full teaching qualification (minimum of CTLLS) or PGCE, or working towards one.
  • Experience delivering Functional Skills in a classroom setting.
  • An interest in the rehabilitation and resettlement of offenders.
  • Awareness of equal opportunities and a commitment to recognising diversity and inclusion.
  • Experience in instructing or supporting individuals with challenging behaviour.
  • An Assessor or IV qualification is desirable.
  • Experience working in a prison environment.

Package Description

Salary up to £42,091.51 per annum - depending on experience.

£38,362.27 per annum plus £3,729.24 London Weighting per annum.

Working Hours - 37.50 hours (Regular Monday – Friday pattern)
