Maintenance Plumber
Job Introduction
HMP Peterborough are currently recruiting for a Maintenance Plumber to support our facilities department at HMP/YOI Peterborough.
As a maintenance operative you will maintain the prison estate, facilities and systems to a high standard. You will fulfil the conditions for cell certification and carry out effective maintenance and repairs that contribute to a safe, reliable and efficient maintenance regime within the Prison estate.
HMP/YOI Peterborough is the country’s only purpose-built prison for both male and female prisoners (kept separate at all times), including a 12-place mother and baby unit. We are committed to offering education and development programmes to provide residents with the skills required to enter employment on release, so reducing the chances of further offending. Providing creative outlets, such as workshop activities, helps to equip those in custody for when they are released. We use ‘Restorative Approaches’ to bring people in conflict into dialogue. Using a skilled and structured process, those who have been harmed have an opportunity to be heard and those that have caused the harm are held to account for what they have done. We have strong links with the community outside through a variety of partnerships, including our outreach activity Outside Links’ offering support and advice to both residents and their families.

Role Responsibility
- Carry out installation, repairs, and planned maintenance tasks to all water systems, where suitably trained, within the establishment
- Maintain accurate records of all preventative maintenance and repair work carried out and report in detail any substandard or defective equipment
- Accurate records of maintenance and repair work will be maintained
- All work will be completed to relevant trade standards (WRAS, ACOP L8 & HSG 274)
- Perform scheduled maintenance tasks on water systems and fixtures
- Carry out, out of hours call out procedures on an “On Call” rota system and take appropriate action

£30,632.91 and a market forces allowance of £4367.09 (£363.92 per month)

Post holders will be subjected to an advanced DBS check, a prison security check (level 2) prior to being employed.
