Are you passionate about developing people and making a real impact? Do you want to help shape the future of custodial training in a meaningful, supportive environment?
At Sodexo, we’re looking for a Learning & Development Trainer to support the creation of a strong learning culture at HMP Peterborough. You’ll be at the heart of developing and delivering training programmes that support new and existing staff, enhance engagement, and improve retention — all while ensuring compliance with statutory and mandatory requirements.
This is more than just a training role — it’s your opportunity to drive purpose, build capability, and contribute to a safer, more effective custodial environment.
What you’ll do:
Deliver and coordinate Initial Training Courses (ITCs) and induction programmes for both operational and non-operational staff
Support the L&D Manager with planning, content updates, and day-to-day oversight of staff undergoing training
Collaborate with internal experts and departments (SMEs, Apprenticeship Team, Learner Coach) to deliver engaging, compliant training
Facilitate refresher and upskilling sessions to ensure continuous development across the establishment
Provide strong administrative support, including scheduling sessions, tracking progress, and maintaining accurate records
Help shape the future of training in a dual-gender, Category B prison, supporting over 600 staff
What we’re looking for:
Essential:
✔️ Strong communication and interpersonal skills
✔️ Confidence in delivering and facilitating group sessions
✔️ Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise
✔️ Flexible, approachable, and a great team player
✔️ Ability to build strong working relationships across departments
✔️ Constructive feedback and coaching mindset
Desirable:
- A relevant training qualification (or willingness to gain one)
- Experience in a custodial environment (as an operational staff member)
