L&D Trainer (Facilitator)
Job Introduction
Are you passionate about facilitating training and fostering a learning culture in a prison environment?
Purpose of the Job:
The Learning and Development Trainer will play a key role in supporting the Learning & Development Manager to create a learning culture within the establishment. You’ll be responsible for scheduling, delivering, and coordinating training sessions to enhance staff development, ensure compliance with statutory and mandatory requirements, and improve retention and engagement across the workforce.
Main Responsibilities:
Deliver Initial Training Courses (ITCs) for operational and non-operational staff, ensuring content is up to date and engaging.
Provide support to SMEs during training, including areas like Health & Safety and HR, and deliver content as needed.
Coordinate upskilling and refresher sessions for existing staff and assist with the Development Programme for PCOs and OSOs.
Assist with planning and delivering statutory and mandatory training to maintain certification.
Work closely with the L&D Manager to improve recruitment, retention, learning, and development practices.
Key Accountabilities:
Organize and manage ITC schedules and SME allocation.
Enhance staff engagement in learning and development, driving positive feedback.
Monitor and review statutory training compliance.
Contribute to the delivery of learning pathways for the workforce.
Dimensions:
Facilitate up to 6 ITC intakes per year, covering PCOs and OSOs.
Assist with coordination of the annual refresher programme for up to 450 staff.
Support up to 12 non-custodial inductions per year.
Essential Qualifications & Skills:
Resilient, resourceful, and able to facilitate interactive training.
Strong communication and listening skills.
Excellent organizational abilities and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Able to build strong working relationships across various departments.
Experience delivering training in a custodial or similar environment (desirable).
