HMP Peterborough is the first purpose-built prison in the UK to house both men and women on the same site.
This highly innovative prison is designed to a high standard of physical security. Sodexo Justice Services has ensured that the prison provides needs-based personal development services for both men and women. January 2015 saw the completion of a new houseblock on the male estate which can house an additional 292 residents, along with an educational activities building.
Our work aims to facilitate offenders’ reintegration into the community, through the provision of education, employment and resettlement opportunities
You will provide evidence based integrated healthcare services to prisoners in our care, to reflect the standards and quality of the service they could expect to receive in the wider community.
You'll work as a member of the health care team in providing health promotion, assessment, treatment and evaluation of care within a secure environment, working in accordance with the standards set by the Nursing and Midwifery Council and HM Prisons policies and guidelines
Role Responsibility
Actively participate in the development and delivery of health care provision, including:-
- Health assessment to include first night screening and development of integrated care plan.
- Discharge planning including encouraging and supporting prisoners to access relevant services outside the prison and referral to other professionals.
- Health screening and monitoring for IDTS patients undertake practice-nursing procedures as required

The Ideal Candidate
- First Level Nurse Registration
- RCGP 1
- RGN/RMN working towards degree
- Post registration experience
- Teaching & assessing, or working towards
- Ability to undertake comprehensive assessments, care plan and evaluate service user care.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal
- Ability to work in a challenging environment
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Phlebotomy
- Able to demonstrate sound clinical decision making under pressure
- Able to recognise own boundaries of practice

Package Description
