Hospitality Assistant Manager

Job Introduction

To provide an efficient and friendly service to customers/clients in accordance with Sodexo/ Clifton college standards.

Ensure the presentation and agreed standard of hospitality is always per specification and at its highest.

Role Responsibility

  • To make sure you are aware of, and meet the legal and college requirements for Fire, food safety, Health and Hygiene
  • To report any Health and Safety issues to your line manager including any accidents and near misses
  • To promote good safety habits and methods of work
  • To assist in the preparation of hospitality, setting up, clearing down, ensuring all is left to a high standard
  • To comply with college procedures relating to cash handling and security reporting any issues to your line manager
  • To operate machinery as shown and trained to do so, ensuring the equipment is used safely and in accordance with current regulations and company policies
  • To undertake any reasonable requests by Management.
  • To attend training sessions and staff meetings.
  • Assist with the day to day management of all hospitality operations within the unit
  • To liaise with the hospitality manager to review scheduled functions and events
  • Supervise and assist, with preparation, setting up of furniture and equipment for the functions and events
  • To ensure that the food and beverage service and the function or event is performed at all times in a professional manner and to the style specified by the hospitality manager
  • To communicate with the staff in the kitchen and at front of house.
  • In the absence of the hospitality manager to be able to fully brief the staff prior to the functions/events
  • To ensure that all equipment is efficiently prepared and transported to the event venue and is clean and cleared away after service.
  • To report any complaints and concerns to the hospitality manager.
  • Making sure hospitality area is clean and tidy at all times
  • Cash handling duties at external functions

IRREGULAR DUTIES:

  • To assist with other areas of the catering service when required.
  • To liaise with external clients in the absence of the hospitality manager.

Desirable (Not Essential)

  • Previous experience working in hospitality industry
  • Qualification in Hospitality or Catering Management

  • To be smartly dressed wearing provided company uniform, polite, professional and friendly at all times, with customers, clients & colleagues.
  • To ensure the highest level of customer care is adhered to at all times
  • To demonstrate a can – do attitude towards individual customer requests and strive to exceed customer expectations
  • To acquire a good knowledge of all products and services in order to be able to advise individual customers on their product choice
  • To actively gain feedback, passing on comments gained to your line manager
  • To ensure any job asked is performed and completed to the best of your ability.

Package Description

We are looking for a full time Assistant Hospitality Manager to join our hospitality team here at Clifton College. You will be working closely with the Hospitality Manager to plan and deliver a huge variety of hospitality including events such as weddings, formal lunches, drinks receptions, and pupil and parent match tea service amongst many others. 

Every day is different so if you thrive on challenge and variety then this job might be for you.

Working hours are 40 per week but shift times are business dependent so a good degree of flexibility will be essential. Being available to work early and late shifts according to the business needs is essential. Having a clean driving licence and being prepared to drive company vehicles would also be a significant advantage.

There is also some manual handling tasks involved in this role during the setting up and clearing down elements of the role.

We are looking for someone with excellent customer service skills. You will be comfortable leading a small team under the guidance of the hospitality manager, but equally able to work by yourself on some occasions.

Previous experience in hospitality, catering or bar work would be helpful. This role would suit a supervisor or experienced assistant looking to develop. We also offer the opportunity for lots of training and development.
