Hospitality Assistant Manager

Job Introduction

  • £23,000 - £25,000 per annum
  • 35 hours per week
  • 5 days out of 7 
  • Term Time Only- 37 weeks contract 
  • The role will flex between early/mid and late shifts per shift - between the hours of 8am - 9pm with opportunities for overtime 
  • Uniform provided, meal on duty plus Sodexo benefits 
  • Location: Emanuel School , Battersea Rise, London, SW11 1HS  close to Clapham Junction station ( 20 minute walk) and regular bus routes

**Equated pay (sometimes known as spread-over pay) is a method of paying you for your contracted hours, working weeks and holiday pay spread over 12 months instead of just receiving pay during the months that you work and none during the school closures/non-working weeks. This means that you get paid equal amounts of pay every month. Further information will be supplied at interview stage.**

Job Introduction

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Hospitality Assistant Manager to deliver a front to back first-class hospitality experience to all Emanuel School stakeholders, both internal and external to the client’s satisfaction and maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene at all times at Emanuel School , Battersea Rise, London, SW11 1HS

The successful candidate will work with Contract Manager on the planning and delivery of events, including labour, food and expenditure costs, for all internal and external events, some of these will fall outside of term time. You will be a visible and trusted Manager for Sodexo at Emanuel School by supporting the Catering Team to deliver all services across the school.

We are looking for a confident leader with proven experience managing high volume student catering, retail operation and numerous events delivered on a regular basis.

 What you’ll do:

  • Deliver a front to back first-class hospitality experience to all Emanuel School stakeholders, both internal and external to the client’s satisfaction and maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene at all times.

  • Take full accountability and be the point of contact for all hospitality events, including the people and operations within it for internal and external events.

  • Ensuring all customers, pupils and staff have a first-class experience, with prompt and efficient service; ensuring expectations are consistently exceeded.

  • Be very service focussed and driven with demonstrable impeccable standards and aligned to Sodexo policies.

  • Support the Contract Manager and Head Chef in the day-to-day core food service offer to include main dining rooms and 6th Form.

  • Plan for success by concentrating on attention to detail of both standards and service

  • Effectively manage the catering team to ensure that exemplary hospitality services are provided at the school.

  • Manage resources and promote an ethos of teamwork and to instil a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

  • Work with Contract Manager to monitor team performance and support with training, and potential for development.

  • Comply with Company and statutory regulations relating to safe systems of work, health & safety, hygiene, cleanliness, fire and COSHH.

  • Undertake any reasonable tasks requested by the School and Sodexo 

What you bring:

Essential:

  • Hotel/Event experience and/or Education with experience of large volumes and working /directing teams

  • Ability to work in a fast-moving complex operation

  • Flexible approach to role- The role requires flexibility around hours. 

  • Strong level of literacy, numeracy and PC and software literate

  • Experienced leader who has operated in a similar large-scale environment.

  • Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills

  • Clear and effective leadership style

  • Strong ability to lead, motivate and communicate.

  • Excellent time management and organisational skills

  • Able to demonstrate positive attitude to self-development; willingness to learn in role and identify own training needs as appropriate.

  • Displays a constant and sustained level of enthusiasm and self-motivation.

  • Strong ability to build professional partnerships and communicate at all levels, particularly at senior client levels

  • Ability to set high standards, achievable through striving for continuous improvement.

  • Ability to act on own initiative and to work effectively as part of a team.

Desirable:

  • Contract catering experience 

  • Relevant higher-level qualifications in functional specialties (i.e. catering, facilities management)

  • Experience of managing a large team 

  • Knowledge of Safer Recruitment and working in educational establishments
