Head of Tax Compliance
Job Introduction
Sodexo is currently recruiting for an experienced and qualified Head of Tax Compliance; based at our offices in Salford Quays. You will run an in-house tax compliance team consisting of 3 direct reports; managing the UK & Republic of Ireland (“ROI”) VAT and indirect taxes compliance work, alongside offering VAT advice on transactions, systems and improving the compliance process. You will also oversee the Corporate Tax data collation, compliance and reporting process. Role Responsibility
Overall Direction:
- Acting as Taxation and Compliance support for all UK and ROI Sodexo segments
- Understand implications of taxation and compliance changes and plan accordingly
- Preparation and sign off of VAT returns for the UK and ROI business
- Preparation and sign off of CIS and RCT returns
- Monitor VAT and indirect tax compliance in segments and the Shared Service Centre
- Audit business and accounting processes from a VAT compliance angle
Cost Management & Control:
- Offer advice and be a key driver of improvements to processes and systems to improve the compliance process
- Overseeing the maintenance of the Senior Accounting Officer procedures manual
- Evaluate the impact of changes in VAT and indirect taxes legislation or developments in the UK &ROI business
- Review all areas of VAT for increasing the competitiveness in the market place
Reporting & Analysis:
- Oversee preparation of monthly corporate tax journals and reporting to Senior Management
- Manage and oversee the corporate tax computations
- Liaison with HMRC as appropriate
The Ideal Candidate
Essential
- CTA qualified (or equivalent)
- Strong commercial experience of VAT
- Enthusiastic with strong interpersonal skills and the confidence to deal with people at different levels throughout the UK & ROI business
- Good communication skills
- Flexible approach and adaptable to a changing working environment
- Demonstrate initiative and anticipate needs of the UK & ROI business
Desirable
- Qualified Accountant
- Able to demonstrate practical accounting process knowledge.
- Good Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
