Head Chef (Monday - Friday)

Job Introduction

Are you an ambitious Head chef, who is skilled in fresh food delivery and customer service? if yes, this role could be for you.

We are currently recruiting a Head Chef to deliver lunch service including balanced and nutritional options, themed lunches and street food concepts for up to 600 children at the Edinburgh Academy Senior School. This is an excellent opportunity to enhance your culinary career and develop yours skills within a fantastic setting.

We are looking for a personable, friendly individual to give focus to the daily service delivery and production of high quality food, from daily student feeding to the set-up of exciting new events within the school. Working closely with our customers, you will become part of the team.

You will only be working Monday to Friday hours

 

Role Responsibility

  • To work closely with the Catering Manager at The Edinburgh Academy Senior school to ensure that food standards across the school are of a consistently high standard of quality and presentation
  • To train and develop chefs to ensure that they can perform to the required capability level
  • To be responsible for the successful production and delivery of healthy, balanced food to pupils, staff and visitors at all services, within pre- determined budgetary levels.
  • In the absence of the Catering Manager to be the primary point of contact for the kitchen team
  • To undertake food production in line with legal requirements and in relation to HACCP
  • To be responsible to production of weekly menus that include a variety of fresh and seasonal dishes (including vegetarian and dietary alternatives)

The Ideal Candidate

Essential

  • Proven experience in managing and leading a kitchen/craft team
  • Industry acumen and knowledge of catering developments & innovations
  • Food Safety Qualification  Level 3 /NVQ Level 3  is essential
  • Enthusiasm to develop own skills and knowledge plus those around you
  • Controlling and directing the food preparation process
  • financial understanding and demonstrable in understanding budgets
  • Proven ability communicating at different levels
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience working in a standards /compliance environment
  • Relevant qualification and training
  • IT literate

Desirable

  • Experience of working  in an Educational sector would be advantageous
  • Coaching & leadership experience
  • Health & Safety in the workplace qualification
