HSE Initiatives Manager

This is an exciting opportunity for an HSE Initiatives Co-ordinator to join an enthusiastic HSEQ team to support one of the UK&I’s largest service providers in leading the way in safety.

We are the only company that integrates a complete offer of innovative services, based on over 100 professions, ranging from construction management, reception and food services through to asset maintenance, security and grounds maintenance for our clients in offices, schools, prisons, hospitals, military bases, remote sites and hospitality events. Due to business growth we are looking to recruit a new home based role with our Health and Safety team. We are looking for a HSE Initiatives Co-ordinator. This post is specifically designed to support  the embedding of a positive safety culture into the business through the coordinate of HSE messaging both internally and externally, delivery of regional HSE initiatives , and  leading the ongoing design and development of the safety culture programme .  This role is key to supporting our aim to becoming world class in safety, growth targets, and 2025 vision.

You will engage with Front-line teams, Segment Functional and Operational Directors; SME Managers and Functional Leads, Segment HSEQ Leads, along with the knowledge and outputs from the HSEQ Reporting and Analytics team to maintain a long term, sustainable HSEQ behavioural change programme that will deliver world class performance in HSEQ.

This role would ideally suit individuals, who has excellent communication, engagement, influence and change management skills and who has a passion for safety.

 

Role Responsibility

  • Coordinate and maintain the Regional HSEQ engagement and behavioural change programme that changes the way Sodexo employees, our contractors and clients think about HSEQ and the way individual employees and managers operate so far as HSEQ is concerned.
  • Articulates the programme in the Regional HSEQ improvement plan, aligned to Global objectives as necessary, but also aligned to the requirements of the Regional Segment requirements.
  • Establish an engagement process and network with the Segments to understand clearly their requirements and distil into deliverable objectives. Drive consistency in our delivery across the process (e.g. via HSOC).
  • Engage with Transversal Functions and L&D teams to embed HSEQ principles into other dimensions of Sodexo’s operational and functional activities.
  • Driving culture change in HSEQ within Sodexo and aligning to the mission of Service operations to continually improve HSE performance. This must overtake (albeit dovetail into) client drivers where they may exist.
  • Working with the Brand & Communications department, Reporting and Analytics Manager and utilising feedback from operational teams to develop targeted initiatives with clear, positive messages, influencing all levels of the organisation based on Operational demand, ensuring that new ideas and initiatives are effective
  • Establish HSEQ profile in all major communications channels that exist within the business (e.g. The Weekly Brief, Stars, Insight, etc.)
  • Establish appropriate metrics (working closely with Reporting & Analytics) to determine the value of the programme in place and where existing metrics are not precise enough for this purpose – this could be qualitative or quantitative.

 

The Ideal Candidate

  • Graduate calibre
  • Track record of delivering performance/service improvement to meet business targets
  • Excellent and proven experience of ability to advise, negotiate and influence at all levels
  • Analytical thinking and decision making skills; able to analyse complex situations by looking at multiple causes and effects so that resources are focussed in the right areas.
  • Strong relationship Management; proven ability to create networks and build influence and advocacy across different businesses and stakeholder groups.
  • Effective presentation skills, written and oral communication skills are essential.
  • Fully mobile to travel across the UK and Ireland Region;  Full UK / Ireland driving Licence.
 

Desirable

  • Knowledge of psychological levers and triggers to support culture change is desirable..
