Graphic Design Officer - Grade 1

Job Introduction

To provide graphic support and artistic design to all Units/Formations in Colchester (including 16 Air Asslt Bde dispersed units), Wattisham and Woodbridge.

Role Responsibility

Analyse, create, check and deliver projects to the print stage and completion.
Produce and adapt presentational material for use internally and external to Units/Formations.
Monitor workflow to achieve target completion dates of customers works.
Maintain a data filing system for reference and retrieval.
When required provide cover for the Reprographic Support Staff to ensure that requirements are met.
Reprographic and Graphic Support Staff duties as defined in Section 7 - Office Support Services, Appendix 3 - Staff Duties, Paragraph 4 - Reprographic and Graphic Support Staff.

The Ideal Candidate

Essential:

Grade 1 Professional and Technology ONC/OND awarded by BTEC/SCOTVEC in relevant discipline, plus an aggregate of at least 2 years' structured training (standard based) or equivalent experience, or City and Guilds of London Institute Advance Craft Certificate (Part 2) or equivalent plus an aggregate of at least two (2) years' structured training, plus a minimum of four (4) years' post training experience, or NVQ/SVQ in relevant subject at level 3.
Security Check (SC) vetting.
Experience working with Graphic and Photographic manipulation programmes including Adobe Photoshop, CorelDraw and Corel Photo-Paint.
Requires MODNET (Communications and Information System) Account and will be required to undertake Defence Information Management Passport (DIMP) training, which is a mandatory e-learning course.
IT literate with knowledge of MS Office programmes (Powerpoint, Word, Excel and Outlook) and Defence packages (including Sharepoint/MODNet).
Good Telephone Manner.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to prioritise work.
Ability to work to deadlines.

Desirable

Understanding of pre-press and print production techniques.
Knowledge of Nero burning ROM and other alternative data transfer software or burner software.
Knowledge of MS office programmes (Publisher, Visio and Frontpage).
Knowledge of MOD and military systems of work and rank structure.
Ability to use an automatic 35mm Still Camera when required.
