Food and Beverage Assistant Woodbank

Job Introduction

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Food and Beverage Assistant to join our Woodbank Team based at Woodbank Hotel, a member only hotel in Aberdeen, Scotland. Our talented team of hospitality specialists manage the full-service delivery for Woodbank Hotel and this role will support this operation ensuring it is delivered to an exceptionally high standard. At Woodbank Hotel our team not only look after our customers and clients, but they are also the heart and soul of our business. Renowned for being a cut above the rest, we would love for you to join the team.

A few things about you 

We’re looking for somebody who is enthusiastic about delivering the best customer service, who is a strong communicator and a great team player! Don’t forget to bring your computer skills! (mainly the Microsoft package).

Your experience of working in similar roles will mean your attention to detail and high standards are second to none.

Basic food hygiene and Health and Safety certificates would be great, but don’t worry if you don’t hold either as we’d still love to hear from you!

Role Responsibility

  1. Ensuring the correct standard is set and adhered to in all areas of service delivery - to include room set-up, food and beverage delivery
  2. Learn menu items and be able to describe them appropriately to guests
  3. Greet customers, present menus, offer drinks menu and explain daily specials or any changes to the menu to customers
  4. Answer questions related to menu items and make recommendations
  5. Take food and beverage orders from customers
  6. Relay food and beverage orders to the kitchen staff
  7. Maintaining proper dining experience, delivering items, fulfilling customer needs, offering desserts and drinks, removing courses, replenishing utensils, refilling glasses 
  8. Remove dirty dishes and glasses and clean tables after customers finish meals
  9. Prepare itemized checks and hand them to customers and take payment
  10. Clean and set up dining areas, refill condiments, roll silverware, and stock service areas
  11. Adhere to grooming and appearance standards consistently
  12. Providing consistent high standards of service all the time to ensure all customers receiving the same products and service
  13. To be customer focused at all times, by being visible during service periods, approachable and quick to exceed expectations in fulfilling customer needs
  14. To ensure all food and drinks are presented and served in line with company standards
  15. To co-operate with all team members and undertake duties in the hospitality areas as requested to ensure an efficient and effective service is delivered at all times
  16. To show commitment to company values in all aspects of your role
  17. Identification of opportunities for service improvement or development within the food and beverage  environment
  18. To ensure you meet Sodexo and Shell’s legal regulations on health and safety, food safety, hygiene and the environment.
  19. Embrace and grow a ‘zero accidents culture’ by ensuring the accurate reporting of near misses and accidents as well as reporting any equipment defects to your line manager in line with company procedure
  20. Continue to develop one’s own skills and knowledge within the position
  21. Able to work on own initiative within a team environment.
  22. Maintain levels of quality, cleanliness, food safety and hygiene in line with company SEMS, Safeguard and local authority regulations i.e. EHO, HSE

 

The Ideal Candidate

Essential

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbally and can demonstrate experience of working with previous customers or clients
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with customers, clients, and staff at all levels
  • Good time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure managing multiple workloads
  • Ability to achieve and set standards and operate to performance criteria, with particular regard to food and beverage
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety and Food Safety
  • Able to demonstrate attention to detail and adherence to standards
  • Positive approach to learning in role and identifying own training needs as appropriate
  • Self-motivated with a sense of own initiative
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Flexible approach to role - must be available to work different shifts including evenings and weekends if required by the business  

 

Desirable

  • Experience with Point of Sale Systems
  • Previous Health and Safety and Food Safety Training
  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Scottish Personal Licence
