Floor Steward

Role Responsibility

  • Housekeeping of allocated floor area.
  • Good understanding and experience of working in a AV/Events environment is vital.
  • Knowledge of AV systems is vital.
  • Conduct regular floor walks and audits.
  • Own and Replenish stationery hubs as required
  • Monitor MFD and provide first line fault repairs and toner replacement.
  • Fully understand the Business Support Centre function and multitask training for all services.
  • Provide a concierge service in line with the Business Support Centre.
  • Fully understand print and reprographics fulfilment and advise users appropriately.
  • Provide AV support to all meeting room users.
  • Check meeting room facilities including equipment are in tip top condition, cables are tidy and AV operates.
  • Ensure meeting room plasma screens, AMX touch screens and phones are clean and finger prints removed.
  • Ensure meeting room tables are finger print free and floors hovered when required.
  • Report condition of meeting room furnishings, walls and equipment.
  • Follow and track any call through the helpdesk that he been recorded in your allocated area.
  • Participate in building inductions as necessary.
  • Communicate effectively with all team members
  • Ensure all facility users are handled in a polite & courteous manner
  • To listen to facility user remarks and ensure that the correct actions are taken and followed up
  • To have a working knowledge of all support functions throughout the building
  • To pro-actively look to recommend  improvements to your  work processes by providing suggestions and solutions
  • To show flexibility within the role and be prepared to assist in either areas within the unit when necessary
  • To always look for time efficient ways of completing any activity
  • To comply with all Health, Safety and Environmental procedures including COSHH, manual handling, risk assessments and fire regulations
  • To report any non-conformances of the above in the appropriate and timely manner
  • To ensure the legal & company requirements for fire, health, safety & hygiene are met and bring to the attention of your line manager any areas of training you feel you need or have missed
  • When possible to undertake overtime as requested to ensure the efficient operation of the Business Support Centre.
  • To be prepared to assist your colleagues in a willing and positive manner and move form one activity to another within your overall remit.
  • To communicate effectively with all team members and participate in all contract activities
  • To be friendly, pleasant and polite to your work colleagues at all times
  • To make your line manager and team aware of what is going on within your dedicated area.
  • To attend company briefing and training sessions as and when required
  • To assist in the preparation of and participation in special functions at the Client/Company requests.
  • To look clean and smart, ensuring that the any uniform provided is used and worn correctly and to follow the appearance and conduct policy.
  • To ensure required standards are achieved at all times and always look at opportunities to further improve the existing standards of work
  • To complete any other reasonable task requested by a customer or a member of management.

The Ideal Candidate

  • The FloorSteward must be professional, friendly, efficient and above all articulate with a positive can do attitude. 
  • The role requires strong interpersonal skills, and competent verbal and written communication
  • The individual must have the ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining a calm demeanour
  • Experienced within customer relations and how to manage all requests to a successful and positive resolution 
  • Requires a strength in proactively owning and leading challenge through to successful completion, communicating clearly and concisely to both customer and site leadership
  • Successful in leading and nurturing a professional team in a multi skilled environment
  • A natural ability to work with a range of different people from Senior Leaders to front line service teams
  • Good understanding and experience of working in a mailroom/reprographic/AV/Events environment
  • Attention to detail, methodical approach
  • Ability to challenge ideas and opinions in sometimes confrontational situations to a positive outcome
  • Health and safety experience, especially in relating methods of working to the risk and how to control these is a must

The ability to apply logical and creative thinking to a situation to gain the best outcome
