Job Introduction

Responsible for providing all activities associated in relation to the Logistical Support Unit as part of the team, ensuring:

  • Standards of service detailed in the Service Standards Statement (SSS), associated authority regulations and within the schedules of the contractual terms and conditions are achieved, maintained and developed for the assigned operational business area.
  • To deliver service excellence and outstanding customer service.
  • Support the Warehouse Storekeepers as requested.

Role Responsibility

  • To ensure serviceability of Defence Accommodation Stores (DAS) furniture is checked before delivery is made to customer.
  • Selected DAS furnishings are to be checked for cleanliness and for serviceability before leaving the warehouse.
  • To deliver DAS furniture to Service Family Accommodation (SFA), temporary accommodation, Colchester, Wattisham, Woodbridge Barracks, MCTC and Wethersfield.
  • To Collect DAS Furniture from Service Family Accommodation (SFA), temporary accommodation, Colchester, Wattisham, Woodbridge, MCTC and Wethersfield to return to ASU warehouse Merville barracks.
  • To deliver DAS furniture to Single Living Accommodation at Wattisham, Woodbridge and MCTC.
  • To maintain excellent client/customer relationship.
  • To assist in cleaning DAS furniture when required.
  • To assist in loading/offloading of deliveries/collections to and from ASU warehouse Merville barracks.
  • To assist in keeping the warehouse and surrounding areas clean and tidy.
  • To wear PPE when operating in the warehouse and delivering DAS furniture.  
  • To operate forklift. (once trained)
  • To Operate pallet trucks. (once trained)
  • To Drive Sodexo vehicle and comply with Sodexo’s driving policy and regulations.
  • To check vehicles daily and complete daily vehicle paperwork, maintain vehicle serviceability, all damages are reported to the Line Manager and the vehicle is to be kept clean and tidy at all times.
  • Hand in vehicle mileage at the end of the month to ASU main office.
  • To assist in all Health and Safety Matters.
  • To assist in stocktaking when required.
  • To operate additional warehouse equipment. (once trained)
  • Manual handling loads from vehicles or within the warehouses detailed by Line Manager within the area of responsibility.
  • Assist other employees when required in warehouse and to cover staff sickness/holidays.
  • Receive on the job training/attend training courses as necessary.
  • To attend team briefs, huddles and meetings as required.
  • Leave blank for local additions.
  • To carry out any other reasonable tasks and/ or instructions as directed by management.

The Ideal Candidate

Essential

  • People Friendly, Customer service skills essential
  • Held a full UK Driving license for 2 years or more
  • Must be over 25 years of age to driver company vehicle
  • Able to work within a team environment
  • Good communications skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative

       Desirable

  • Previous experience in a similar role.
