Domestic Assistants – North Devon District Hospital

Hours: Between 15 and 25 hours per week

Days: Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday

Pay: £12.51 per hour (weekday) / £22.89 per hour (weekend)

About the Role

As a Domestic Assistant, you’ll play a crucial partin maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout thehospital. Your work helps to prevent infection and supports patients, visitors,and staff to feel cared for in a comfortable, safe setting.

Your main duties will include:

• Carrying out routine and deep cleaning tasks in line with NHS cleaning standards and Sodexo procedures
• Maintaining high levels of cleanliness across wards, corridors, and patient areas
• Emptying waste bins and disposing of domestic and clinical waste safely
• Replenishing consumables such as soap, toilet rolls, and paper towels
• Using cleaning equipment and materials safely and effectively in line with COSHH regulations
• Responding to ad hoc cleaning requests and supporting infection control
• Working as part of a dedicated team to deliver a professional, reliable service every day

About You

We’re looking forfriendly, reliable, and hardworking individuals who take pride in their workand understand the importance of a clean, safe environment.

Essential:

Experience in cleaning, housekeeping, or facilities support

Good communication and teamwork skills

Attention to detail and commitment to high standards

Physically able to carry out cleaning duties

Positive, caring attitude towards patients and colleagues

Desirable:

• Previous experience in a healthcare or hospital environment
• NVQ in Healthcare Support Services or BICSc Cleaning Certificate
• Level 2 Food Hygiene or equivalent qualification
