HMP Peterborough have an exciting opportunity for a Diversity and Inclusion Manager to join the team! In this role, you will be responsible for creating a safe and secure work environment, which promotes treating both staff and prisoners with dignity. You will take the lead role in ensuring Sodexo are complying with the legal duty to eliminate unlawful discrimination, promote equality of opportunity (for both prisons and staff), and proactively promote the nine characteristics with a focused approach to equality for all.

HMP/YOI Peterborough is the country’s only dual prison, housing both male and female prisoners. At our prison, you will find a 12-place mother and baby unit, education department, healthcare department, hair and beauty salon, workshops and much more.

At HMP Peterborough, we are committed to offering education and development programmes to provide prisoners with the skills required to enter employment upon release – this in turn reduces the chance of reoffending. Providing creative outlets, such as workshop activities, helps to equip those in prison for when they are released. We use ‘Restorative Approaches’ to bring people in conflict into dialogue.

To be successful in this role, you will:

Be a diversity, equity, and inclusion specialist (ideally educated to degree level, or qualified though experience)
Research and make recommendations on diversity and inclusion issues
Implement and raise awareness of D&I policies and procedures
Be a strong strategic leader who can influence at all levels, flexing your approach as necessary
Have knowledge of the Equality Act
