Job Introduction

 Job Opportunity: Cook Supervisor – Sodexo @ Lydiard Park Academy, Swindon 
 Location: Lydiard Park Academy, 10 Babington Park, Swindon, SN5 6HN
 Pay: £13.35 per hour
⏰ Hours: 30 hours per week
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, 07:30 – 14:00 | Term Time Only

As Cook Supervisor, you’ll lead the kitchen team and oversee all aspects of food service and operations. From creating delicious menus to managing kitchen finances, your skills and leadership will help deliver one of the region’s best school dining experiences – all while enjoying work-life balance and meaningful impact.


What You’ll Do:

  • Supervise daily kitchen operations, food service, and hygiene standards.

  • Manage catering costs including food, labour, and stock.

  • Plan and develop nutritious, appealing menus for students and staff.

  • Train, support, and inspire your kitchen team to deliver excellence.

  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and food hygiene standards.

  • Maintain consistency in food quality and customer service across the board.

  • Lead with positivity and professionalism – you’ll be the team’s go-to.


What You’ll Bring:

  • Experience cooking for large groups (100–1300 students).

  • Familiarity with following recipes and working with fresh produce.

  • Previous experience in supervising or managing kitchen staff.

  • Strong understanding of food safety and health procedures.

  • Ability to stay calm and lead effectively under pressure.

  • A proactive, can-do attitude and positive leadership style.

  • Qualifications:

    • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent

    • Level 2 Food Safety Certificate
      (Training on Food Hygiene, Health & Safety will be provided)

Package Description

  • Term Time only 

**Equated pay (sometimes known as spread-over pay) is a method of paying you for your contracted hours, working weeks and holiday pay spread over 12 months instead of just receiving pay during the months that you work and none during the school closures/non-working weeks. This means that you get paid equal amounts of pay every month. Further information will be supplied at interview stage.**
