Cleaner (Accommodation)

Job Introduction

We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate individual to join our Housekeeping team at Student Living by Sodexo, based in Avery Hill Campus, Eltham, SE9. At the University of Greenwich, we provide technical and housekeeping services in student accommodation, as well as catering services. 

This is an exciting opportunity aimed at someone who is willing to work flexible hours during the summer (35-40 hours / week) and fulfil the role as a part-time housekeeping assistant throughout the academic term-time (20 hours / week).

The summer period starts from early June and ends around the middle of September. During summer period, work will be available and mandatory for some of the weekends, as well as working overtime flexible hours. 

The academic term-time starts from the middle of September and ends at the beginning of June. During this period, the working schedule will be Monday-Friday, from 9.00 until 13.00 and you will be responsible for the weekly cleaning of student accommodation.

The probation period is 4 weeks and the rate of pay £10.85 / hour.

Our main goal is to maintain our buildings in a clean and orderly condition, ensure that the tenant needs are fulfilled, whilst working closely with the University to ensure service delivery.

Role Responsibility

• To maintain a tidy appearance and professional conduct at all times.
• To monitor and maintain all areas of responsibility to the set standard of cleanliness within the timeframe given, complying at all times with standards laid down in the work schedule.
• To service all rooms after customer departure as directed by the Housekeeper.  Completing an inventory of the room, immediately communicating any deficiencies or damage to the Mess Manager.
• To follow COSHH regulations when using chemicals and ensure economic use of these at all times.
• To immediately report defective equipment to the Mess Manager/Housekeeper.  Communicate cleaning material requirements.
• To maintain a safe system of work within the Company Health and Safety Procedures laid down.
• To assist the Housekeeper and colleagues with departmental responsibilities once duties are completed.
• To continue to develop one’s own skills and knowledge within the position.

The Ideal Candidate

• Basic level training in HSWA and COSHH regulations.
• A comprehensive knowledge of the cleaning specifications relating to the various types of surfaces to be cleaned and to have received training in cleaning techniques and the use of industrial cleaning equipment.
