Job Introduction

As a Ward Assistant at Nuffield Hospital, Parkside, London, you’ll play an important role in delivering delicious meals and a positive experience to patients, staff, and visitors. Your cheerful attitude and friendly interactions can brighten someone’s day and bring comfort during challenging times.

What You’ll Do:

  • Accurately take and record patient and visitor refreshment orders, ensuring allergies and dietary requirements are clearly communicated.

  • Prepare and present patient meals and refreshments to a high standard, delivering them promptly and assisting patients as needed.

  • Maintain hygiene and infection control by cleaning crockery, cutlery, trays, and equipment thoroughly.

  • Manage stock rotation, wastage monitoring, and documentation to ensure accurate records and minimal waste.

  • Complete all required legal, company, client, audit, and quality documentation within set timeframes.

  • Keep the ward kitchen clean, tidy, and fully compliant with health, safety, and hygiene standards, reporting faults or malfunctions promptly.

  • Communicate professionally, calmly, and courteously with patients, visitors, and colleagues, resolving or escalating issues as appropriate.

  • Follow all organisational policies and safety procedures, using resources efficiently and maintaining a professional, positive image at all times.

What You Bring:

  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Excellent craft and presentation skills
  • A passion for great food and making a difference
  • Good communication and literacy skills
  • A friendly, respectful, and professional attitude, with good customer focus
  • Basic food-handling knowledge and hygiene awareness, with a level 2 food hygiene certificate
  • Allergen Awareness
  • The ability to stay active and on your feet for extended periods
