Job Introduction
We’re looking for a Domestic Assistant to join our Sodexo team at Constantine House. In this vital role, you’ll help create a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for patients, staff, and visitors. Your work will directly support health and wellbeing throughout the hospital. What you’ll do:
Equipment & Chemical Safety: Check equipment daily, report faults, use chemicals safely per COSHH and Sodexo guidelines, and wear appropriate PPE.
Health & Safety Compliance: Follow all relevant legislation (e.g. Health and Safety Act 1974, HACCP), report incidents promptly, and complete required training.
Cleaning Standards & Infection Control: Meet national cleaning standards, follow schedules, complete documentation, and dispose of waste correctly.
Safe & Efficient Work Practices: Support a culture of safety, suggest process improvements, and follow local protocols and team priorities.
Supplies & Equipment Maintenance: Maintain equipment, report defects, manage stock levels, and keep storage areas clean and organised.
Confidentiality & Clinical Support: Protect patient confidentiality and assist with clinical tasks such as curtain/blind changes and ward requests.
What you bring:
Previous experience in a cleaning role, preferably within the NHS.
Strong knowledge of cleaning methodologies, procedures, and infection control.
Understanding of COSHH, Health and Safety regulations, and NHS colour coding schemes.
Experience interacting with patients or the public, maintaining confidentiality and data protection.
GCSE grade 5/C or equivalent in English and Maths.
Proficient keyboard skills with excellent written and verbal communication.
Ability to work accurately under pressure, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively in a team.
Knowledge of NHS policies relevant to the work area.
