Job Introduction
We’re looking for a Domestic Cleaner to join our Sodexo team at Ipswich Hospital. In this vital role, you’ll help create a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for patients, staff, and visitors. Your work will directly support health and wellbeing throughout the hospital. What you’ll do:
- Maintain cleanliness in patient rooms, wards, communal spaces, restrooms, and other hospital areas
- Strip and clean beds, collect used linen for processing
- Clean surfaces, including desks, ceilings, vents, blinds, and walls, to maintain a hygienic environment
- Perform daily tasks such as dusting, mopping, vacuuming, sweeping, floor polishing, and replenishing supplies
- Change curtains as scheduled
- Empty waste bins and manage refuse in line with hospital protocols
- Promote and maintain a safe, healthy environment for all patients, staff, and visitors, adhering to training on chemicals and following safety guidelines
- Keep Machinery, Stock, and cleaning supplies organised and in good condition, ensuring any faults are reported immediately
- Maintain patient confidentiality
What you bring:
Essential
- Physical capability to carry out cleaning duties across various hospital areas
- Previous cleaning experience
- A friendly, customer-focused attitude with a willingness to go the extra mile
- A strong commitment to health and safety standards and an understanding of COSHH & Health and Safety Standards
- Professionalism, integrity, and a neat, presentable appearance
- Confidentiality and data protection awareness
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal with standard keyboard skills
- Ability to work well in a team
Desirable
- NHS Cleaning Experience
- Knowledge of NHS Colour coding scheme
- Infection control knowledge
- Experience working with patients or the public
- GCSE grade 5/C or equivalent in English and Maths
- NHS knowledge of relevant work area
