Business Improvement Manager

Job Introduction

Reporting to the Executive Contract Director and being a key member of the Senior Management Team, the Business Improvement Manager will play an instrumental role in the quality management system, taking the lead in the analysis, development and implementation of existing and new business processes that drive greater service excellence, cost efficiencies and adherence to contractual compliance/operational standards across the contract. This role has the responsibility for interfacing with the client Business Improvement Manager to drive continuous improvement across all soft services activities in partnership with Aspire Defence Services Limited.

Role Responsibility

  • Re-engineer business processes to maximise profitable operation of the contract
  • Oversee the adoption and use of the contract and company governance processes
  • Ensure contract compliance across the contract through the implementation and management of an effective monitoring system, measuring performance against contractual and business PI’s, assessing required improvements, and implementing them
  • Undertake analysis and report writing on the PI measures and ensure that these demonstrate adherence to PIs across the contract, or corrective action to address poor performance
  • Analyse, develop and implement current and new business processes and practices across the contract in line with contract and Defence governance processes and procedures
  • Identify and create methodology to rectify performance issues and drive operational excellence, whilst ensuring business processes meet the requirements/objectives as defined
  • Advise project leads or sponsors on key business process risks and issues impacting the contract and project, providing workable solutions as required
  • Plan and deliver training to business managers, with support from the L&D Manager, on Sodexo Defence/contract governance processes and procedures
  • Work with the Senior Management Team and central functions to deliver service excellence together, assessing operational performance against required process metrics
  • Provide consultative support to the business managers in executing their respective processes and initiatives, coaching and guiding on any areas of improvement
  • Use company tools to drive additional profit, including specifically the OELM labour management optimisation tools

The Ideal Candidate

  • Outstanding analytical skills and demonstrated academic achievement
  • Must have excellent process and business improvement background (e.g IS9001:2008/Lean Six Sigma or Blackbelt/BNP disciplines)
  • Participation in successful major change programmes
  • Strong financial/numerical skills, with ownership of a substantial P&L
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a proven experience of managing client and/or customer relationships
  • Experience in preparing and presenting recommendations to an audience of senior executives
  • Experience of working in an international and cross functional environment (minimum 5 years)
  • Management knowledge of Health and Safety and Food Safety
  • Able to work on own initiative within a team environment
  • Able to demonstrate working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

Desirable

  • IOSH and CIEH qualifications or equivalent
  • Proven track record of leading, managing and developing a team
  • Experience of working in a military environment

Package Description

Salary up to £50k plus car or car allowance up to £5k, 25 days holiday, £1,300 flexible benefits fund, Pension contribution, 20% on target bonus.
