Beauty Tutor (Beautician)

Job Introduction

Sodexo Justice Services are currently recruiting for Beauty Tutor to be based at HMP & YOI Bronzefield in Ashford, Middlesex to supervise and train groups of female prisoners within an in-house hair and beauty training salon.  Bronzefield focuses on providing needs-based services and programmes aimed at rehabilitating and maintaining the well-being of prisoners.

The Learning & Development Team caters for a wide range of educational and vocational needs for 500+ prisoners and seeks to invest in a, passionate, open-minded, patient and innovative Beauty Tutor to join the team.

Role Responsibility

  • Train learners in a number of current and relevant beauty treatments such as nail art, manicure/pedicure, make up application, threading and eyelash extensions
  • Deliver NVQ (or similar) qualifications covering a range of hair and beauty processes to a diverse learning group
  • Create innovative lesson plans to engage and retain prisoner attention and attendance
  • Contribute to the development of own area, including the expansion of course/curriculum areas/taught skills on offer
  • Report on prisoner progress and collaborate with colleagues to prepare prisoners for release
  • Encourage, support and sustain prisoners seeking to gain qualifications

The Ideal Candidate

  • One years experience in a Salon setting (minimum)
  • Educated to NVQ level 2 or equivalent (minimum) with experience of delivering training in beauty therapy
  • Recognised teaching qualification (minimum PTLLS or equivalent) or a willingness to gain one within the first 12 months
  • Ability to teach effectively and to prepare relevant teaching materials across a range of levels and work with learners in identifying individual learning needs/learning plans
  • Evidence of the ability to build relationships across the classroom, department and prison as a whole

Personality and attitude are at least as important as experience however and we are prepared to work with exceptional candidates to help them achieve the required accreditations within a reasonable timeframe.

Package Description

£21,000 to £24,800 (incl. London weighting) plus excellent benefits including free meals and parking, group discount schemes and pension with 28 days holiday
