We are seeking an experienced Shift Technician - Mechanical to join our on-site engineering team in Central London. This is a shift-based role, providing planned and reactive maintenance support to ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of building services.
As a Shift Technician, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality maintenance services across a range of building systems. You will carry out planned, reactive, and corrective maintenance tasks, work alongside subcontractors, and support operational continuity across the site. You may also deputise for the Shift Lead when required.
you'll:
Deliver planned, reactive, and corrective maintenance across critical and non-critical building services
Diagnose faults and carry out repairs within your technical capability
Ensure client systems and equipment remain operational, escalating issues where service delivery is at risk
Assist with work order prioritisation and liaise with the DigiHub/Helpdesk and end users
Oversee and quality-assure work completed by subcontractors and colleagues
Deputise for the Shift Lead as required
Respond to emergencies, including participation in escalation and out-of-hours support when necessary
Ensure strict compliance with health & safety requirements, including RAMS, LOTO, and safe systems of work
Maintain required certifications and AP/CP appointments where applicable
Support the training and development of team members
Maintain accurate records and ensure work orders are completed to contractual standards
Be mindful of cost efficiency, sustainability, and best engineering practice
NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in an electrical or mechanical discipline
Approximately 5 years’ experience in a technical maintenance environment
Strong practical knowledge of building services, engineering standards, and best practice
Experience working independently and managing your own workload
Strong understanding of health & safety compliance
IT literate, with experience using Microsoft Office and Computerised Maintenance Management Systems
Excellent communication skills and a professional, customer-focused approach
