Mechanical Supervisor
Job Introduction
Supporting the Hard Service Manager in the safe operation and maintenance of all plant, equipment and installations within the site, establishing efficient and effective teams with high performance standards.
Provides technical engineering advice and support for the maintenance of equipment, and utility services for the site.
Role Responsibility
- The day to day supervision of mechanical technical staff within the mechanical engineering team
- Planning and distribution of the workload for the respective mechanical technicians, ensuring that work is completed to schedule and the system updated accordingly
- Assisting the Hard Services Manager in preparation and delivery of the maintenance plan and annual maintenance plan
- Supervision of contractors engaged on repair/maintenance works on a routine day to day nature.
- Provides expert specialist and professional building and engineering expertise to other Sodexo staff.
- Undertake Authorised Person and or Competent Person responsibilities in relation to specified systems.
- The management of a team who will ensure the safe operation of all plant and equipment on the l site in line with the contract.
- The cost effective delivery of a Planned Preventative Maintenance Service.
- The management of a reactive maintenance service during normal operating hours of the site, as well as an out of hours service.
- Data collection for mechanical plant, equipment and installations.
- Management of workshop operation and activities for craftsmen.
- Provide support and guidance to craftsmen in order to develop skills and improve effectiveness.
- Ensuring Health & Safety Legislation and site specific Health, Safety and Welfare policies are adhered to, and also ensuring a safe working environment and safe systems of work are followed.
- Be a point of contact for the client related to services activities/ working group.
- Delivery of service specific on the job training for employees within a working group.
- Co-operating with the helpdesk team and ensure the return of completed worksheets in a timely fashion.
- Monitoring contractual response and rectification times to ensure compliance and avoidance of service failure and penalties.
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience in this field of work and environment.
- Practical and theoretical mechanical engineering knowledge; acquired through completion of apprenticeship, BTEC, diploma or equivalent and experience.
- Be competent in using IT based software
- Ability to affect a hands on approach when required.
- Ability to create good working relationships with staff at all levels.
- Be adaptable to the introduction of new technology.
- Be willing to take part in a rostered out of hours call system
- Awareness of the Permit to Work system and Safe Systems at work.
