Electrical Operative
Job Introduction
- The safe operation and maintenance of all plant and equipment within the site. Carrying out a wide range of electrical repairs and new works to a high standard. Working on own initiative when applicable or as part of a team.
- Supporting Electrical Supervisor to ensure contractual response and rectification times are met.
Role Responsibility
- Fully competent in the fault diagnosis, repair and testing of all electrical plant equipment.
- Skilled in the hands – on repair of designated plant and equipment within the limits of their trade, having the ability to fault find, diagnose and repair using their technical knowledge on equipment, including but not limited to :-
- Air Conditioners/ Ventilation systems
- Electrical Installations, including Lighting and Power systems
- Control Systems
- Heating Systems
- Operation of computer aided data collection
- Automatic controls

Other Duties to include:
- Portable Appliance testing
- Fixed Inspection Testing (Desirable)
- Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmosphere Electrical Testing (Desirable)
- Observe all statutory and legal requirements, particularly in relation to Health & Safety at Work Act and the IEE Regulations
- Develop good working relationships with Client and Non Client staff at all levels
- Provide instruction and guidance for maintenance assistants and apprentices, on all aspects of electrical plant and equipment in order to develop their skills and knowledge
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience in this field of work and environment.
- Knowledge of procedures for repair and maintenance. BTEC ONC Level or City and Guilds plus relevant post apprenticeship training or equivalent experience
- Electrical knowledge and ability to carry out minor repairs and installations
- Be competent in using IT based software
- Ability to affect a hands on approach when required.
- Ability to create good working relationships with staff at all levels.
- Be adaptable to the introduction of new technology.
- Have the flexibility to cover emergency works 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- Able to take part in a rostered out of hours call system.
- Awareness of the Permit to Work system and Safe Systems at work.
