Catering Manager

Job Introduction

Are you an experienced Caterng professional who enjoys the leadership and the administration side of management? 

Fancy not having to work unsocial hours all the time such as split shifts, every weekend and most evenings?  Our role offers you the accountability for your time with the core hours being Monday to Friday with some evening and weekends when necessary to support/oversee the team during major functions.

We have been working with the Ministry of Defence since 1986 and provide a wide range of services to support British servicemen and women serving in the United Kingdom and overseas

Our catering, retail and leisure facilities have been developed to combine high street style restaurants, cafés, bars, shops and leisure services

Role Responsibility

  • Plan, organise and coordinate all catering activity
  • Ensure standards of service detailed in the service level agreement and within the schedules of the contractual terms and conditions are achieved, maintained and developed
  • Grow services in order to meet client and commercial expectations whilst maintaining strict budgetary control in line with client and Sodexo expectations
  • Continually monitor all food standards and hygiene standards and ensure they are maintained at the highest level
  • Drive catering performance through adherence to all promotional activity and marketing initiatives

The Ideal Candidate

  • Proven experience of working in a similar role within the service industry at a comparable level in a company
  • Experience in catering sector, including stock management, cash control and customer service
  • Good numerical and communication skills, must be able to demonstrate effective verbal and written communication
  • Management knowledge of health & safety and food safety
  • Able to work on own initiative within a team environment
  • Able to demonstrate working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Able to demonstrate attention to detail and adherence to standards
  • Able to analyse problems analytically, develop opportunities and implement innovative solutions
  • Must have one of the following qualifications or equivalent:-  MHCIM, HND, City and Guilds 706/1 and 2, NVQ level 2 and 3 and possess an intermediate level food safety certificate
  • CIEH level 3 qualification or equivalent

Desirable

  • IOSH qualification or equivalent
  • Proven experience of managing client relationships
  • Proven track record of leading, managing and developing a team
  • Experience of working in a military environment
  • Previous budgetary responsibility
