Shop Retail Assistant

Ensure the smooth daily running of the Shop by maintaining store presentation, processing transactions accurately, managing stock levels and delivering excellent customer service in line with Sodexo policies and safety standards.

What you'll do

  • Greet and assist customers in a professional and friendly manner

  • Maintain a clean, tidy and well-organised shop environment

  • Replenish shelves and manage stock rotation and displays

  • Complete monthly stock counts and support stock takes

  • Accurately process transactions and follow cash handling procedures

  • Ensure compliance with Food Safety, Health & Safety and Office of Fair Trading regulations

  • Support sales promotions and suggest ideas to drive retail performance

  • Undertake cleaning duties in line with the cleaning schedule

  • Maintain strong communication with colleagues and third parties

  • Attend training sessions and team briefings

  • Follow company procedures including timekeeping and absence reporting

What you'll bring

    • Previous experience in a retail or customer service environment

    • Strong customer service focus with a professional approach

    • Good numeracy and literacy skills

    • Ability to work independently and use initiative

    • Reliable, flexible and proactive attitude

    • Ability to multitask and work effectively within a team

  • Desirable

    • Knowledge of Food Safety legislation

    • Understanding of COSHH regulations

    • Strong listening, prioritisation and interpersonal skills
