At Sodexo, we believe safety, care, and great service go hand in hand. We’re looking for a professional and people-focused Security Officer to join our team at the University of Greenwich – Medway Campus, supporting a safe, welcoming, and well-managed environment for students, staff, and visitors.
This is a hands-on, customer-facing role where you’ll combine vigilance with approachability, providing visible security, responsive support, and a positive first impression every day.

Act as a key front-of-house security presence for the university library and main buildings
Welcome and manage visitors and contractors, issuing passes and maintaining accurate entry/exit logs
Patrol, secure, and monitor premises using physical patrols and CCTV systems
Monitor alarms and CCTV feeds and take appropriate action when required
Respond quickly and calmly to incidents, emergencies, and fire alarms, supporting evacuations when needed
Control and record the issue of keys, access codes, and security equipment
Communicate clearly and professionally with students, staff, visitors, and contractors
Maintain accurate occurrence logs, incident reports, and shift handovers
Attend training and refresher sessions to maintain compliance and capability

We’re seeking someone who is alert, dependable, and service-driven a security professional who understands that great security is also about great people care.
You’ll be confident working independently and as part of a wider facilities and workplace experience team.
Valid SIA Licence
First Aid at Work Certificate
Strong knowledge of security techniques and site protection practices
Experience using CCTV and alarm systems
Comfortable using computer-based security systems
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Ability to write clear, accurate reports and logs
Understanding of confidentiality and data protection
Experience supporting fire evacuations and safety drills
Ability to work on your own initiative and within a team
CCTV Licence
Fire Warden certification
First Aid qualification (additional)
Knowledge of BS7858:2013 screening standards
