Job Description
Ration Accountant – Swinton Barracks, Perham Down, SP11 9LQ
We are looking for a detail-oriented Ration Accountant to provide essential food, stock, and financial accounting support to our site. This role focuses on ration and stock accounting, invoice processing, reconciliation, and audit compliance, ensuring accurate records and smooth site operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate ration, stock, and food accounting records in line with company and contract requirements.
- Check delivery notes and supplier invoices and ensure all entries are accurately recorded in the food account system.
- Process debit and credit entries, including internal and external stock transfers.
- Compile, reconcile, and balance weekly and period-end ration and food accounts, both manual and computerised.
- Consolidate and manage all issue, receipt, and credit documentation, ensuring a full audit trail is maintained.
- Prepare accounts and reconciliation statements for audit and management sign-off.
- Ensure all financial and stock documentation is stored and retained in accordance with company policy and legislation.
Skills & Experience
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and accurately.
- Experience in a stock control, stores, catering, or accounting-related role.
- Basic IT skills with the ability to use computerised systems and Microsoft Office.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
- An understanding of numeracy and accuracy in handling accounts, stock, and reconciliations.
- A proactive approach with an interest in developing skills within an operational accounting or stores environment.
