Job Introduction

Job Title: Workplace Manager 

Location: Reading, RG6 1WG

Contract Type: Full Time, Permanent position

Salary: Up to £51,000 per annum

 

Job Purpose

To lead thecompliant, efficient, and customer-focused delivery of all contracted servicesat a designated client site(s). You will ensure financial targets are met,service standards are exceeded, and risks are effectively managed whilemaintaining a high-performing and engaged on-site team. You will act as the keyrepresentative of Sodexo on-site, ensuring we remain the partner of choice forour client through operational excellence and strong relationship management.

 

Key Responsibilities

1. Contract Delivery & Performance Management

  • Ensure all services are delivered in full compliance with contract specifications and client SLAs.
  • Monitor and report on performance using established KPIs and monthly reporting tools.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational delivery and exceed client expectations.
  • Lead and support on-site service delivery teams, ensuring all operational audits (e.g., Safeguard, Business Health Checks) are successfully passed.
  • Ensure site compliance with Sodexo policies, client procedures, and legal/statutory regulations.

2. Financial & Commercial Management

  • Manage site budgets, ensuring profitability and cost control in line with business plans.
  • Evaluate monthly expenditure with the Finance team and implement corrective actions as required.
  • Understand and manage contract scope, including payment mechanisms and variations.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for added value and additional services to the client.

3. Client Relationship & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as the primary on-site contact for the client, ensuring satisfaction and contract retention.
  • Build and sustain long-term relationships based on trust, transparency, and performance.
  • Host existing and prospective client visits, showcasing service delivery and innovation.
  • Support administration and coordination of external events in collaboration with the client.

4. Team Leadership & People Development

  • Recruit, train, motivate, and manage site-based staff in accordance with HR policies.
  • Lead performance reviews, training plans, and talent development activities to build a high-performing team.
  • Drive staff engagement initiatives and promote a culture aligned with Sodexo’s core values and behaviours.
  • Promote a safe and inclusive working environment, including compliance with all health and safety regulations.

5. Risk, Compliance & Health and Safety

  • Ensure full compliance with Sodexo’s risk and governance processes.
  • Maintain and implement business continuity plans and site-specific risk registers.
  • Take the lead on all Safeguard and HSE-related initiatives, training, and documentation.
  • Work closely with central teams (Finance, HR, Quality) to maintain standards and process integrity.

6. Innovation, Change & Brand Representation

  • Identify and implement innovative practices to improve service quality and efficiency.
  • Promote Sodexo’s brand values internally and externally.
  • Build networks and forums for knowledge sharing and best practice implementation across sites.
  • Promote CSR initiatives, employee well-being, and community engagement.

 

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Strong operational management experience in a similar environment (e.g., facilities, hospitality, FM).
  • Proven people management skills, including team development and engagement.
  • Ability to understand and interpret financial data, budgets, and performance reports.
  • Excellent communication, planning, and organisational skills.
  • High level of self-motivation and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience in delivering training and leading performance management processes.

Desirable:

  • IOSH Managing Safely qualification.
  • Experience managing diverse stakeholder expectations.
  • Background in technical services or facilities management.
