Your Role as a Technical Services Manager
As a Technical Services Manager at HMP Addiewell, you will be instrumental in ensuring the prison estate remains secure, compliant, and fit for purpose. Working closely with the Head of Facilities Management, you will lead the day-to-day delivery of both Hard and Soft FM services, managing in-house teams and specialist contractors across a busy, 24/7 operational site. You will also deputise for the Head of FM when required, offering consistent leadership and support to the wider FM team.
You’ll play a key role in maintaining compliance with statutory regulations, overseeing lifecycle and capital projects (circa £1.2 million annually), and driving continuous improvement. A commitment to health and safety, team development, and operational excellence will be at the heart of your work. This is an ideal opportunity for a strong, dynamic leader with a background in technical FM to take the next step in a complex, high-stakes environment.

The Ideal Candidate
Essential:
- Proven experience in people and service management within Total Facilities Management
- BIFM Level 4 qualification or equivalent
- IOSH Level II Health and Safety training
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and FM systems (e.g., CAFM, BMS)
- Experience managing capital and maintenance projects
- Ability to work independently and to tight deadlines
- Knowledge of statutory compliance and building regulations
Desirable:
- Knowledge of HVAC, AHU, BMS and electrical control systems
- Experience working in 24/7 environments such as prisons, hospitals, or universities
- Familiarity with ISOQAR 9001 and 14001 standards
