Are you experienced in stores or warehouse operations and ready to take the next step in a dynamic, technical environment? We're looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Technical Stores Storekeeper to support our Technical Stores team at Merville Barracks, Circular Road South, Colchester. You'll play a vital role in ensuring smooth day-to-day operations, maintaining stock control, and supporting both our engineering teams and clients through reliable and safe service delivery.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a team that supports a diverse defence engineering and FM environment while contributing to essential site operations and safety.
What you'll do:
- Receive, check, and issue stores materials in line with company procedures.
- Maintain stock levels and support deliveries, returns, and general warehouse duties.
- Assist the Warehouse and Distribution Senior Storekeepers or Military Line Manager when required.
- Uphold health, safety, and welfare standards, adhering to Sodexo and legislative policies.
- Keep the store area organised and compliant with health & safety regulations.
- Work collaboratively with the Service Delivery team, including engineers and management.
- Escort deliveries and ensure accurate processing of incoming and outgoing goods.
- Respond to queries through the Technical Mailbox, ensuring timely resolution.
- Support ongoing audits and contribute to continuous service improvement.
- Undertake other reasonable duties as directed by management.
What you bring:
- Previous experience in a warehouse or stores environment
- Practical numerical and communication skills
- Good understanding of Health, Safety and Welfare in the workplace
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong customer service focus
- Full UK driving licence held for at least 2 years
- Must be 25+ years old (for insurance purposes related to company vehicle use)
Desirable:
- Prior experience in a similar technical/FM storekeeping role
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Forklift licence
- Basic understanding of FM-related stock such as electrical, mechanical, and plumbing parts
