Job Introduction

A great, brand-new opportunity has become available for a Sous Chef to join our kitchen team at Strathallan School in Perth. This is a boarding school in our Independents by Sodexo business segment – to find out more click here.

We offer three services a day of high-level, fresh from scratch food offer, 7 days a week and due to the nature of the site you would be required to work 5 days out of 7 with occasional evening (up to 7.30pm) work to cover events. You would have a minimum of NVQ L2 in Catering, Food Safety L3, effective communication skills and experience in a similar role.

This role is subject to Safer Recruitment checks and the successful applicant will be required to complete a PVG check.
 

 

Role Responsibility

  • Provide catering service to company standard within scope of the contract
  • To provide innovations and new ideas to ensure customer and client retention
  • To ensure services are provided on time and within contract specification
  • To assist with the operation of menu planning system
  • Assist in maintaining an efficient ordering system
  • Assist in maintaining an efficient kitchen record system
  • Assist in maintaining Health Safety and Quality awareness, actively review systems and processes to deliver on our Health and Safety standards at site.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of menu cycles, taking in to account provenance and seasonality
  • Good financial awareness with the ability to analyse budgets, sales figures and forecasts
  • Support and oversee the day-today running by means of food standards, customer service, service delivery and attention to detail.
  • Act as kitchen lead and management in the absence of the Head chef
  • Deliver on best practice, innovation and value-added tasks

The Ideal Candidate

  • A minimum of NVQ L2 in Catering
  • Food Safety L3
  • Knowledge, skills and experience in a similar role is essential
  • Computer literate
  • Basic numeracy / literacy skills
  • IOSH or similar - desirable
