Location: Shell Centre, York Road, Waterloo, London, SE1 7NA
Salary: £40,000 – £42,000
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

About the Role

Are you a passionate and driven chef looking to take the next step in your culinary career? Join Sodexo as a Sous Chef at the prestigious Shell Centre in Waterloo. You’ll play a key role in leading the kitchen team, delivering exceptional food experiences, and ensuring the highest standards of quality and service.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic corporate environment with a supportive team, excellent career progression, and a work–life balance with Monday to Friday hours only.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the kitchen in the absence of senior chefs, guiding and supporting your team.

  • Supervise and develop commis chefs, chef de parties, and other staff.

  • Manage food preparation, ordering, stock control, and service delivery.

  • Ensure strict compliance with EHO and food safety standards.

  • Maximise stock use and bring creativity to menu planning.

  • Work closely with Front of House to deliver a seamless dining experience.

  • Oversee sanitation and hygiene practices across the kitchen.

  • Prepare, produce, and present food to consistently high standards.

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • Level 3 Food Hygiene certification.

Desirable:

  • Level 3 Health & Safety and Food Safety qualifications.

Experience & Skills:

  • NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent experience in a busy kitchen.

  • Strong background in menu planning, bulk cooking, and large-scale catering.

  • Good IT skills (Microsoft Office).

  • Positive, approachable, and team-oriented attitude.

  • A genuine passion for food and a drive to learn and develop.
