Solutions/Bid Director

Job Introduction


We are seeking to appoint a Solutions/Bid Director to lead bids within our Healthcare segment and successfully secure contracts within the healthcare sector. You will be responsible for developing commercially competitive and high-scoring bid submissions based on a detailed analysis of the client’s needs. 

You will take ownership of qualified opportunities from the pre-tender phase and build on the relationships with key client decision makers gained, thereby further enhancing our understanding of their wants and needs to define their desired outputs and deliver an effective bid based on these requirements.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Taking ownership of qualified opportunities from the pre-tender phase, building on the relationships secured with key client decision makers for specific pursuits 
  • Building a detailed understanding of client wants and needs to define their desired outputs and outcomes for the contract
  • Providing leadership and management to motivate bid team members to contribute and perform to a level that delivers a win
  • Ensuring that the solution is informed by the latest developments in Healthcare products and services, leverages solutions and technological best practice being developed elsewhere in the business yet clearly ties back to client wants and needs, the requirements of the tender document and represents the best offer Sodexo can make for the project
  • Owning the production and submission of commercially competitive pricing and legal submissions, and compelling and high-scoring quality submissions to maximise Sodexo’s position against competitors  

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE 

You will be an experienced director or senior bid manager in the bid process within the FM industry and have in-depth experience of conducting a detailed analysis of client requirements and developing commercially competitive and high-scoring bid submissions. You will have a demonstrable track record of winning competitive tenders for FM or support services contracts in complex, regulated environments. Experience of the UK Healthcare market is essential, particularly of winning FM contracts in the NHS, with the DHSC, or with private healthcare providers in the UK.

You will also have:

  • Strong client focus, with the ability (and resilience where needed) to very quickly build relationships with key client decision makers (e.g. Estates Directors, FM Managers, Lead Dietitians and Infection Control Leads) and to get them to share their key wants and needs for the contract 
  • Experience of successfully leading teams to pursue time-bound tender opportunities within a large, multi-faceted organisation 
  • A deep understanding of the approach required to develop solutions which meet the requirements of the tender documents whilst also incorporating key client wants and needs, yet in a cost-effective manner 
  • The gravitas to positively engage with senior leaders in client organisations and to represent Sodexo as a professional, engaged and invested partner in supporting their organisations purpose
  • The ability to articulate the solution, commercial and pricing elements of the bid in internal Sodexo reviews and to manage a process of critical challenge to stress-test and improve the offer prior to submission and in line with Sodexo process 
  • A degree, or extensive industry experience equivalent to a degree-level qualification
