  • £17.90 per hour + shift enhancements for working nights, weekends and bank holidays

As a Shift Electrical Craftsperson at Sodexo, we’re looking for someone who keeps things running smoothly—the one who knows how to solve problems, offer expert advice, and ensure the hospital estate operates at its best. As a Shift Electrical Craftsperson at Royal Stoke Hospital, you'll be the go-to expert for technical support and maintenance across equipment, building systems, and utility services.

What You’ll Do:

  • Fully qualified (AP/CP) in diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing electrical and mechanical systems, including heating, cooling, steam, and medical gases
  • Perform Planned and reactive maintenance, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards
  • Read and interpret technical diagrams and documentation for system repairs
  • Ensure safe operation and high-standard repairs of all plant/equipment within the hospital
  • Support contract performance, response times, and compliance with contractual and statutory requirements
  • Provide technical support, training, and develop team skills across the Hard FM function
  • Manage out-of-hours call-outs, permits, and safe systems of work
  • Maintain effective communication with Trust management and collaborate on safety and compliance initiatives
  • Use CAFM and BMS systems for reporting, monitoring, and quality assurance
  • Cover for team absences, overseeing workshop operations and providing hands-on technical guidance
  • Comply with all health and safety, hygiene, and statutory regulations, including COSHH and fire safety.
  • Promote and maintain a safe, clean, and efficient environment for patients, visitors, and staff.

What You Bring:

  • Fully competent in BS761, 18th edition regs; 2391 Test & Inspection preferred
  • Qualified in electrical engineering with C+G/BTEC or equivalent, recognized apprenticeship, or time-served experience
  • Extensive experience in electrical trade, with hands-on repair, fault-finding, and reading drawings
  • Skilled in diagnosing and repairing plant and equipment, including UPS and generator backup systems
  • Confident, logical, and adaptable under pressure; able to assess situations quickly and respond effectively
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety at Work regulations and report writing skills
  • Computer literate, preferably with building management systems (BMS) familiarity
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, with strong mathematical ability
  • Willing to attend relevant external/internal training courses as required
  • Experience in mechanical maintenance, health service environment, or refrigeration/relevant specialist skills
  • Excellent time management, teamwork, and communication
  • A positive, initiative-taking approach—able to work independently or as part of a team.
