Shift Duty Logistics and Waste Co-ordinator - COVID19 Megalabs

Job Introduction

To support the service delivery of the COVID-19 testing labs, we are seeking to recruit Shift Duty Logistics & Waste Co-ordinators in Leamington Spa.

Reporting to the General Services Manager, you will be responsible for the day to day supervision and management of the Logistics and Waste Service on site. You will ensure that the logistics team deliver and collect materials and waste within the COVID-19 Megalab both safely and efficiently, ensuring to provide a high quality Logistics and Waste Service. You will ensure that the service is adequately covered and is always managed and operating in a safe and efficient manner .

You must be flexible to work on a shift pattern of 4 days on, 4 days off from 06.00 until 18:00 and available to start immediately.

Role Responsibility

  • Day to day supervision of the Logistics and Waste team, ensuring all adhere to policies and safe systems of work
  • Creating and managing the scheduling to ensure all posts are covered and appropriate resilience is in place
  • Manage sickness, absence and lateness ensuring to cover shifts for the team
  • Ensure that key tasks take place and appropriate reports are escalated as per requirements
  • Ensure there is an effective flow of materials, stock, laundry items and waste within the Megalab whilst achieving key performance indictors
  • Rectify reported delays from operatives that are recorded on individual tasks in a quick and efficient manner
  • Day to day coordination with the Waste Management suppliers, ensuring that the service provides a smooth operation to the Megalab. This includes the movement of waste, linen and stock items received via goods receiving.
  • Commitment to the work and to following the strict guideline and procedures required
  • Undertake training on hand washing and ensure personal hygiene is maintained to a high level 
  • Liaise with stakeholders throughout site, providing an update on their reported task, cancelling reported tasks and providing updated information on tasks.
  • Monitor compliance of all company standards and polices, ensuring processes are adhered to

The Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience in a supervision role
  • Previous experience in a manual handling and customer service role
  • Interpersonal and communication skills
  • IOSH Managing Safety in a Healthcare Environment is desirable
  • Must be able to physically stand for several hours with good mobility
  • You must be over 18 and in general good health with no symptoms of COVID-19, nor must anyone in your household.
  • Native or bilingual proficiency level English
  • Commitment to the work and adhere to the strict guidelines and procedures required
  • Effective communication and customer care skills with visitors, clients, and staff
  • Ability to deal with clinical waste, smells, bodily excretions/fluids and dirt 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team  
  • Ability to deal with stressful situations 

You must not be classified, or live with anyone classified, as belonging to any of the COVID-19 high risk groups (more detail can be found on the government website):

  • Must not have a long-term condition
  • Must not have immune deficiencies through medical conditions or therapy

Training and full personal protective equipment will be provided.

Please note you will not be permitted to have your mobile phone on your person whilst working on site.

Package Description

  • Competitive hourly rate of £11 per hour
  • Successful candidates will need to be available to start in role immediately
  • Must be available to work on a shift pattern between the hours of 6am - 6pm, (4 shifts on 4 shifts off)
