Senior Maintenance Technician

Job Introduction

We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Maintenance Technician to join our team. This is a great opportunity for a customer focused individual to join a world leading food and facilities management company, which can offer unrivalled opportunities for career progression.

Role Responsibility

  • Delivery exceptional customer service at all times with strong engagement with Sodexo team and students, creating and making memorable experiences.
  • Ensure all reactive works orders for maintenance, electrical, plumbing and fabric are completed for the building through the use of Maximo/manual work orders within the SLA agreement.
  • To service, test, diagnose, repair and calibrate equipment within the Accommodation blocks which may include plumbing, mechanical, electrical and electronic installations, plant and equipment including air conditioning systems, automatic controls, lifts, generators, building management systems, boilers and other plant.
  • Support the Technical Manager with the PPM plan and to ensure all Risk Assessments and Method Statements are approved and up to date.
  • Support and monitor the rosters for wider technicians shift patters ensuring that all areas are maintained in accordance with the required standard.
  • Support and monitor all caretaking/portering duties for waste removal are in accordance with the waste management policy
  • Support the Technical Manager in reporting of management information and trend analysis from manual system/CAFM system
  • Maintain the stock control records of white goods, cleaning equipment, critical spares
  • Ensure best use of physical and human resource and assets including monitoring and mentoring of team members, coaching, one to ones and performance management.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Excellent skills in delivering a range of M&E and fabric technical skills for small projects, tasks and activities
  • Undertake and assess condition reports, interrogate and follow through on advised activity
  • To know and understand the operation of mechanical/electrical and electronic systems in the Accommodation buildings and to correctly apply this knowledge and understand during the performance of the services maintenance activities.
  • Be capable of using all the necessary hand and machine tools in safe and proper manner.
  • To carry out craftsmen duties as requires by management.
  • Provide a timely reactive service to our clients, being respectful of the contractual response and repair times so as to protect the company from financial penalty.
  • Work with 3rd party suppliers and ensure follow up of remedial activity
  • Ability to identify and minimise risks
  • Practical problem solver with focus on efficiency, value for money and effective daily management of conflicting priorities
  • Experience of working in a customer service focused environment
  • To undertake additional training and in job skills and techniques to add value to the contract.
  • Issue permits and closure of permits. Updating permit logs.
  • Undertaking portable appliance testing.
  • Water hygiene statutory maintenance tasks, such as: temperature reading, descaling, sampling and testing and associated tasks to comply with L8 ACoP.
  • Operation and fault diagnosis using Building Management Systems (BMS).
  • Accurate completion and population of all job sheets with relevant information.
  • Building professional relationships with all stakeholders on the contract.
  • To be responsible for all aspects of Health and Safety compliance with requirements. of Risk Assessments, COSHH Assessments, Safe Systems of Work, Audit actions and any other H&S matters as they arise..
  • To comply at all times with the Company's Quality Assurance and Health and Safety Procedures and to ensure that all work is undertaken in accordance with industry best practice.
  • Maintenance of records in line with company procedures and maintenance of records library including maintenance of Integrated Management System.(Quality, Health and Safety, and Environmental obligations).
  • To attend courses and toolbox talks where required.
  • Carry out any other reasonable tasks as directed or requested by Sodexo management in order to meet the operational requirements of the business.
  • To provide instruction and to coach/mentor and guide other craftsmen and apprentices on maintenance and technical aspects of plant and equipment.
  • To liaise and co-operate with the visits of specialist sub-contractors and other visiting disciplines to ensure the continuing efficient operation of the plant without disruption to the occupants and to ensure sufficient adherence of health and safety.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience of working in a standards/compliance environment i.e. COSHH & Risk Assessments/Water Treatment/Waste Management
  • Knowledge of managing facilities services in an educational environment

Package Description

We are seeking a site based electrician and plumber, both must be time served and fully qualified.

40hrs per week, generally Monday to Friday but with some weekend working as required.

Paid on-call allowance.
