Senior Legal Counsel

Job Introduction

This is a permanent position. The successful applicant will work on the UK&I legal team servicing Sodexo’s Irish business.

The successful applicant will work on the UK&I legal team servicing Sodexo’s Irish business.  The ideal candidate will have at least five years post qualification experience with comprehensive experience of commercial contracts (preferably outsourcing contracts). 

As this will be a largely autonomous role within the UK&I legal team with responsibility for all of Sodexo’s Irish business, the successful applicant will be self-motivated and self-reliant, have excellent drafting, analytical and communication skills and be capable of working closely with the Irish business.

 

 

Role Responsibility

  • Providing effective legal and commercial advice on all areas of law as required by the Irish business
  • Drafting and negotiating contracts to execution and providing post-execution contract support
  • Advising the Sodexo Group’s Irish companies at board level as to governance and risk issues affecting the companies
  • Assisting the Irish business regarding the assessment and management of risk
  • Training the Irish business on legal, commercial and regulatory issues to raise and maintain levels of awareness
  • Helping to ensure that business is conducted in accordance with relevant law and Sodexo’s internal governance processes
  • Managing relationships with external lawyers including responsibility for instructions and managing external legal fees under appropriate supervision
  • Working collaboratively with all members of the legal team and Irish business
  • Complying with company policies

The Ideal Candidate

The Ideal Candidate

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Qualified solicitor or barrister in Ireland or equivalent jurisdiction
  • At least 5 years post qualification experience
  • Comprehensive post qualification experience of contract and commercial law and practice and other law and practice relevant to the Sodexo Ireland’s business.  Some knowledge of public procurement law would be an advantage
  • Strong skills in negotiation, drafting, legal analysis and problem resolution
  • Broad knowledge and experience of working in relevant market sectors
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
