Location: Beath High School, Foulford Road, Cowdenbeath, KY4 9BH
Salary: £14.16 per hour
Hours: 40 hours per week
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 06:00am- 2.30pm

About the Role

We’re looking for a Senior Groundsperson to join our Sodexo team at Beath High School. In this hands-on role, you’ll take responsibility for maintaining the grounds across the Fife Schools contract. Working independently or as part of a team, you’ll ensure all outdoor areas are maintained to the highest standards of safety, presentation, and functionality.

Flexibility is key — while your main base will be Beath High School, you may be asked to work at nearby sites when required.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out a full range of grounds maintenance and horticultural tasks to specified standards, including:

  • Grass cutting, strimming, hedge trimming, and shrub/tree pruning.

  • Fine turf maintenance and sports pitch preparation.

  • Planting, weeding, mulching, watering, and litter removal.

  • Gritting and snow clearance during adverse weather.

  • Maintenance of machinery and equipment.

• Operate and maintain vehicles, plant, and machinery (where licensed).

• Conduct regular site and equipment inspections to ensure health and safety compliance.

• Manage team holiday schedules and support new or casual staff through on-the-job training.

• Liaise with subcontractors to ensure timely supply of materials (e.g., line marking products, chemicals, salt, fuel).

• Communicate effectively with school staff, management, and the wider Sodexo team.

• Complete required paperwork accurately and on time.

• Participate in required training and refresher courses.

• Uphold company standards in uniform, PPE, and professional conduct.

Essential Skills and Experience

• Full UK driving licence.

• PVG clearance (Disclosure Scotland).

• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

• Reliable, flexible, and proactive attitude.

Desirable Qualifications

• Spraying licences (PA1, PA2, PA6).

• Previous experience in grounds maintenance or horticulture.

• Strong communication and organisational skills.
